Santa Fe's Gem: The Inn of the Turquoise Bear
If you're planning a trip to Santa Fe, New Mexico, and searching for an elegant and unique and place to unwind, look no further than the Inn of the Turquoise Bear. This stunning inn is a true gem, and our experience here was nothing short of exceptional.
The owners and hosts, Dan Clark and David Solem, are the heart and soul of the Inn of the Turquoise Bear. Immediately, they welcomed us with warmth and genuine hospitality, and we knew we had booked a special property. Truly, Dan and David treat their guests like family, and this had a huge impact on us. Their attention to detail and love of their inn make this property a standout.
We’ve had the pleasure of staying in stunning properties around the United States and Europe, and the Inn of the Turquoise Bear is by far one of our favorite places. Steeped in literary and art history, this sprawling estate was owned by Witter Bynner, an American writer, and was visited by a pantheon of artistic gods like O Henry, Georgia O’Keeffe, and Willa Cather. The Inn of the Turquoise Bear is truly hallowed ground. (As an English major and former English teacher, I may have geeked out a little bit during our stay.)

We stayed in the Shaman Room, and it was gorgeous! (And huge!) The king-size bed with plush bedding, desk, fireplace, and seating area set the perfect tone for our temporary home away from home. With a private entrance, it truly felt like we had the inn to ourselves. Oh, and the room is pet friendly!
Other amenities include a mini-refrigerator, television, air conditioning, hair dryer, toiletries, and a cafe-style table for dining in the room. The shower is a little tight, but other than that, the room is absolutely perfect.
Breakfast Details
One of the highlights of staying at the Inn of the Turquoise Bear is the delicious breakfast that is served each morning in the main building. Dan and David take great care in preparing a gourmet breakfast using fresh, locally sourced ingredients. You can enjoy your breakfast in the dining room, outside on the beautiful patio, or in your room. We were fortunate to have tried their homemade blue corn pancakes with piñion butter, and I will never look at pancakes the same way again! The daily smoothies packed a punch with vitamins and nutrients to give your day a boost of energy. All-in-all, the breakfast was absolute perfection!
If you are looking for a relaxing and serene setting during your holiday, you are sure to love Santa Fe’s number one bed and breakfast. Romantic, cozy, convenient, and historic…the Inn of the Turquoise Bear is a true gem, and it is one that you should not miss! We’ll return here, for sure!
Bisous,
